Our story

tekst: Rustiekkamperen.com

We have long dreamed of having a campsite. We even did an internship in France at a campsite to see if we liked it. Fortunately, that turned out well! However, it turned out that France was a bit too far, so why not a nice rustic campsite in our own Netherlands?

This was found in one of the northernmost places in our country, in the middle of the grain republic in the hamlet of Kostverloren near Finsterwolde. Near the German border, close to the Dollard, in the middle of the fields... An ideal place for a small rustic campsite. Here was a small-scale rustic company for sale that met the conditions! The old bakery of the village. Mini Camping and B&B Kostverloren 11!

Our careers in the west of the country were therefore canceled and our first season was shot in 2018. There are no regrets because the new life in this rural and quiet area is going well and the first satisfied guests have waved goodbye.

There is room for six camping equipment and you can stand intimately on a lush lawn surrounded by trees. A great base for a visit to this special corner of our country.

Kostverloren

Kostverloren is a region with an inhabited history of approximately 200 years. A residential area for people who lived from seasonal work with large farmers and their own small-scale business. Until 1960 there were approximately 25 homes on Kostverloren, currently 9 with the postal address Kostverloren, including number 11. Formerly "bakker Boektje".

What was the bakery, with attached barn for horses and cows, is now a communal room (the back house) with wood stove and bar. Above this are two guest rooms with their own entrance and sanitary facilities.

What used to be vegetable gardens on adjacent plots is now a garden with terrace and camping facilities. On the site there is a sleeping hut, sanitary facilities on wheels and a holiday home with its own sanitary facilities and kitchen. We can offer fully catered sleeping accommodation for groups of up to 10 people. Breakfast and meals in consultation.

“A wonderful spot for a stay in a small campervan. We loved being in an orchard and being visited by the chickens. It was well worth hiring the electric bikes to visit the seal watching point. very quite, very restful."
